The steel wingwalls will eventually fail because of the acidity of the river, <br />but they are currently functioning properly. <br /> <br />Upstream Configuration: There is a "U"-shaped boulder diversion dam that diverts flow along the <br />river to the headgate, which sits along the north bank of the river. <br /> <br />Comments: The headgate has a wood headboard that should last longer than the steel wingwalls. <br />The river in this area was previously straightened out, but because of erosion problems the meander <br />has been reintroduced with shoreline stabilization. There is some rocky shoreline stabilization along <br />the upstream bank.
