The structure is in good condition and looks fairly new, but according to <br />the water commissioner steel structures do not last long on this river because of the acidity. It may <br />be necessary to eventually replace this structure with a concrete structure that is more resistant to <br />the acidity of the river. <br /> <br />Upstream Configuration: There is a "U"-shaped boulder diversion dam that diverts flow along the <br />river to the headgate, which sits along the north bank of the river. <br /> <br />Comments: The river in this area was previously straightened out, but because of erosion problems <br />the meander has been reintroduced with shoreline stabilization.
