High River Flow
Poor DYes LC:,J

Repair(s) Needed: There is significant concrete spalling, and one cell of the headgate is no longer
diverting water. The structure is performing well, but will eventually have to be replaced. In the
meantime the spalling concrete needs to be patched.

Upstream Configuration: There is a concrete diversion dam that diverts flow along the river to the
headgate, which sits along the east bank of the river.

Comments: There are two openings in the headgate, and there is a slide gate in one of the
openings and stop boards in the other to prevent river flow from entering. There is a pair of old radial
gates still attached to the structure that were replaced by the newer slide gate and the stop boards.
Because of the acidity of the water along the Alamosa River the old radial gates rusted out and had
to be replaced. The downstream flow measurement device is a rated section with a Stevens
Recorder. Downstream of the flow measurement device the ditch is lined with concrete. According
to the water commissioner, the owners of this ditch already have three loans from the CWCB.

Estimated Range of Cost: Low

F:\Projects\20060507\Documents\Reports\Alamosa\lnventory Forms\Terrace Main Ditch.doc

OA No. 2-2006-0507
