High Creek Flow (silted in)
Poor DYes LC:,J

Repair(s) Needed: Excessive debris collects in front of the diversion dam and headgate, and
measures need to be taken to prevent this. The adjustment gate on the diversion dam also needs a
longer threaded yoke so the gate can be raised completely to wash debris downstream. In addition,
there is sediment built up in front of the headgate that needs to be removed.

Upstream Configuration: There is a concrete diversion dam with stop boards and a wood
adjustment slide gate that is also attached to the concrete headgate structure, which is on the south
side of the creek.

Comments: This structure diverts water from the La Jara Creek. The commissioner suggested that
the center column of the diversion dam be taken out to help pass more debris through the structure.
The structure was built in 1997, according to a stamp in the concrete. The ditch was not running
water at the time of the site visit. The downstream flow measuring device is a 3' wide Parshall flume.

Estimated Range of Cost: Low

F :\Projects \20060507\Documents \Reports \Alamosa \1 nventory Forms \ Valley Ditch .doc

OA No. 2-2006-0507
