Head south
along the BLM Canal access road and turn west at the station at the end of the
canal. Follow the access road to the headgate.
Latitude Longitude Section
N37 <>25'15.6" W1 05046'45.9" SW 114 S28

Township
T37N

Range
R11E

Location:

Type:

Manually operated 3' wide steel slide gates (2)

Good D No [gI Reason Submerged:
Condition: Fair D Submerged: Yes N/A
Poor [gI D

Repair(s) Needed: The area upstream of the headgate is filled in and needs to be dredged out for
water to get to the headgate. An access road just downstream has been breached, and a large ('"W 72"
CMP) underneath it has been exposed. If the access road is not going to be repaired a diversion
dam needs to be installed to divert river flow to the headgate.

Upstream Configuration: The river widens out around a bend in this area, with the headgates on
the outermost bank of the curve. There used to be a culvet under an access road to control the
water level, but the access road has been breached and water can no longer get to the headgate
efficiently.

Comments: See the photo log for a view of the breached access road and exposed culvert. The
Chicago Ditch crosses over the access road in a steel half pipe above the headgate outlet pipes.

Estimated Range of Cost: Medium

F:\Projects\20060507\Documents\Reports\Rio Grande\lnventory Forms\New Ditch.doc

OA No. 2-2006-0507
