River
flows have to be high to get water to the headgate. The structure could be replaced, but the structure
has such a junior water right that the river has to be relatively high for them to run water.

Upstream Configuration: The headgate sits along the south bank of the Rio Grande River on the
outside of a meander. There is no diversion structure or trash rack.

Comments: According to the water commissioner, the owner would like to modify the Weiss Ditch
structure so water rights from the Brey Ditch can be transferred to it. The Brey Ditch has more senior
water rights. If the Brey Ditch water rights are transferred to this structure it would likely need to be
completely removed and replaced.

Estimated Range of Cost: Medium

F:\Projects\20060507\Documents\Reports\Rio Grande\lnventory Forms\Weiss Ditch.doc

OA No. 2-2006-0507
