000198

INFORMATION. EDUCATION AND PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT

Annual Revorts:

#PIP 12: 1& E Umbrella - Continue to seek human-interest stories that tie to endangered fish
recovery (i.e., the Stewart Brothers and students raising endangered fish in classrooms). These
types of stories appeal to the news media and the average reader and help gain more widespread
interest in recovery efforts.

# PIP 12H: Interpretive Exhibits - Complete fabrication and installation of six interpretive signs
for the Colorado Riverfront Trail in Grand Junction. Pursue setting up a temporary aquarium in
the Visitor Center at Glen Canyon Dam. Determine the feasibility of having an interpretive
exhibit at the new Field House Museum in Vernal. (This was originally planned and budgeted to
occur, however, we received word that there would not be space once the museum moved.
Recently, we heard this may not be the case after all.)

#PIP 12K: Yampa and Gunnison Rivers - Continue to work closely with local stakeholders
along the Yampa River, including the Yampa River Basin Partnership. Although emphasis may
shift from focusing on the Yampa River Management Plan and PBO to nonnative fish
management, it is important to maintain the positive relationship that has been established in this
community. Pursue opportunities to establish relationships with communities served by the
Gunnison River in anticipation of recovery efforts that may occur in the future.

#PIP 12L: Nonnative Fish Management - Continue to proactively build upon communication
efforts launched in FY 2003 with the goal of ensuring that target audiences are well informed of
the nature and purpose of planned activities. Seek more support from Recovery Program partner
agencies to help with outreach efforts, particularly in the areas of publishing articles in agency
publications, posting information to agency web sites, submitting guest editorials to newspapers
as appropriate, and participating in any public meetings that may be held.

2003 Report Recommendations,
