000196

#29a: Population Estimate of Humpback Chub in Black Rocks by Chuck McAda.

Continue management and operation of facilities to serve as a primary refuge for
endangered fishes of the Upper Colorado Basin.

#127: Monitoring the Colorado Pikeminnow Population in the Mainstem Colorado River via
Periodic Population Estimates by Doug Osmundson.

Continue as planned for 2004 and 2005. However, we recommend that to get three years
of reliable estimates of acceptable precision (to comply with Recovery Goal monitoring
criteria), an additional year be added in 2006 to replace the low-quality 2003 estimate.
This decision might wait until after the 2004 and 2005 estimates are in; if these indicate
the 2003 estimate is reasonable, perhaps an additional year will not be needed.

#121: Verification of stocked razorback sucker reproduction in the Gunnison River via annual
collections of larvae by Douglas Osmundson and Chuck McAda.

Proceed with monitoring as before. Light-trapping effort in 2004 will again be contingent
on water levels and availability of sampling sites. An amended scope of work was
submitted to expand larval collections downstream into the Colorado River for 2004.

#128a: Abundance Estimates for Colorado pikeminnow in the Middle Green River /Yampa River
System by Kevin Bestgen, John Hawkins, Gary White, Kevin Christopherson, Ron
Brunson, Mark Fuller, Tim Modde and Thomas P. Nesler.

Complete data analysis and write the final report. The final report will be combined with
results for the Green River from downstream ofthe White River to the confluence with
the Colorado River.

#128b: Lower Green River Colorado Pikeminnow Population Estimate by Paul BadameIMichael
Hudson, Tim ModdelFrank Pfeifer, and Kevin Bestgen.

Analyze data and write final report.

#132: Population estimate of humpback chub in Westwater Canyon, Colorado River, Utah by
Paul Badame and J. Michael Hudson.

Electrofishing should be conducted during the first two passes of2004 and 2005.

Radiotelemetry tracking of humpback chub and roundtail chub may help explain
movement patterns that have not been documented.

An additional night of sampling should be added at the Upper Cougar site to more
adequately sample that area.

2003 Report Recommendations,
