TERMINATE

i1 of days ( 4-6)
The Colorado Division of Wildlife is responsible for managing lakes, ponds, reservoirs and rives
forsportfishing and acquatic wildlife in Colorado. The Division provides several types of
fishing opportunities. These opportunities are:

- Coldwater fishing, that is trout or salmon fishing, AND

- Warmwater fishing, that is fishing for bass.catfish, crappie, bluegill, northern pike, yellow
perch and tiger musky.

This survey is about warmwater fishing in your area.

2. I would like to read three types of warmwater fishing
opportunities. Please tell me which ONE type you
would like to see more of in your local area?

OR some other type?

( SPEC I FY )
OK/no opinion..............9

Very Important............l
Somewhat Important........2
Not At All Important......3(23)
OK/Doesn't Matter.........4

6a. How important is it ~o you to have warmwater fishing
opportunities within an hour's drive of where you live?
Is it very important, somewhat important, or not at all
important?

7. The lower Colorado River in the Grand Junction area has endangered fishes like the
Colorado Squawfish and razorback sucker. There is some evidence that warmwater
fishes like bass, catfish and green sunfish that escape into the river from adjacent
ponds or reservoirs may cause harm to endangered fishes. One of the proposed projects
to help recove~ the endangered fishes is to remove all the warmwater fish from ponds
close to the rlver and do one of three things with those ponds.......

- either not stock fish at all

- stock only with trout at certain times of the year,

- or stock only bass, crappie and bluegill if the fish can't escape from the pond.
