Tourism is also a significantsou~~e of <br />economic activity for the area. <br /> <br />WATER RESOURCES <br /> <br />Water Rights and Use <br /> <br />Issue: The proposed action must not interfere with the Redlands Water and Power <br />Companies operations. <br /> <br />Existing Conditions: The Redlands Diversion Dam and Redlands Power Plant are <br />operated year round to provide water for irrigation and hydroelectric power generation. The <br />Redlands Diversion Dam diverts about 750 cfs into the Redlands Power Canal year-round. A <br />junior water right for an additional 100 cfs is rarely available for use. About 70 cfs of irrigation <br />water is pumped or diverted from the canal to serve residents of the Redlands area. The <br />irrigation season lasts approximately 6 months from April 15 to October 15. The rest ofthe year, <br />the power canal is operated solely for generation of hydroelectric power.
