In the past 7 years UNe has
supported water education in Colo~o by providing the state coordination for Project
WET (Water Education for TeacherS) curriculum. Project WET has been incorporated
into our K-12 educator training progfam and we recommend it as a high quality program
with a record of success. While we do strongly support water education and have
committed resources to provide coora;nation of volunteers and dissemination of Project
WET materials, we are limited in resburces to provide the support for a statewide (
program of water education that m~s the ongoing educational requirements for .
experienced teachers.

In that light and as the current stattmijde coordinator for Project WET, 1 do support the
request by Colorado Watershed NetWork for funding to hire a water education
coordinator to work directly with teabhers throughout the state. Specifically, I am
committing a component of my servi~ time over the next year to 'provide pre-service
(student) teacher coordination as a ~ch for funding from the Water Efficiency Grant
Program. .

Please lend your support to this wort~while effort to provide support for a framework of
water education for teachers and stu~ents from elementary through high school.

Cordially,

!t2:;:~

uniV=Northem Colorado
School ofBiologicaJ Sciences

UNIVWITY ofNollTHEIlN COLOIlADO
Ross H...u..
