about this article

The Golden Urban Renewal Authority is inching
closer to realizing a vision for the small, vacant lot at Jackson and 12th
streets, behind the Buffalo Rose, but exactly what that vision is has yet to
be determined. While the lot is approved for a single-story building, GURA
solicited bids that incorporated additional levels and greater density. Mark
Heller, GURA's executive director, said the three proposals 'submitted to
GURA at a June 13 meeting varied greatly in all aspects, from purchase
price to proposed uses. While one firm proposed a mix of retail and
residential, another suggested a mix of retail with office space. GURA will
further discuss the issue at a 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 27, meeting at City
Hall, 911 10th St. GURA asks public input and invites residents to take a
closer look at proposals at the GURA office at 922 Washington Ave., Suite
100. For more information, call 303-279-4162 or visit www.gura.com or e-
mail mark@)gura.com.
