This <br />loan application is for the irrigation component of the project. <br /> <br />Location: Three miles southwest of the city of Trinidad on the Purgatoire River in Las Animas <br />County (see attached map) <br /> <br />Proiect Yield (for Irrigation): About 20,000 acre-feet <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />Date of Application: January 13, 1997 <br /> <br />Action Requested: Refinancing of Bureau of Reclamation loan on Trinidad Project <br /> <br />Proiect Description: The Trinidad Project was developed jointly by the Corps of Engineers and <br />the Bureau of Reclamation. The Corps owns and operates the reservoir with major <br />. responsibilities for flood control. The Bureau has the responsibility to administer a contract with <br /><(_....J. the PRWCD which manages the irrigation capacity of the reservoir. Total reservoir capacity is ... <br />o about 126,000 acre-feet. The allocation of storage is as follows:- , ., <br /> <br />Flood Control - 51,000 acre-feet <br /> <br />Irrigation - 20,000 acre-feet <br /> <br />Sediment Control- 39,000 acre-feet <br /> <br />Recreation - 16,000 acre-feet <br /> <br />The PR WCD was organized for the purpose of contracting for repayment of irrigation costs and <br />for management of project water supply. Project water is currently used on 19,400 acres of <br />irrigated land in the Purgatoire River valley below the reservoir.
