replacing the pump and controls. The cost for this is included in the latest cost estimate. We
are requesting DOW funds for FY 00-01 to replace this w~1I casing at an estimated cost of
$400,000. ,/

Y5. How much water wilI be needed from the wells in the unconfined aquifer, how many wells will
be required and has the cost of the new wilIs been estimated?

We will operate the facility with 500 gpm from the unconfined aquifer. This will require three
wells in the unconfined aquifer as they are expected to produce 200 to 300 gpm each. The cost
is estimated to be $140,000.

Have sources of replacement water, in addition to those currently available, been identified for
the welIs in the unconfined aquifer?

Z 6.
()

J 7,
f)

vr

~9.
tJ

The use of the unconfined wells wilI require recharge of the aquifer. This will be accomplished
by pumping the discharge from the facility into the existing lake.

Is a copy of the most recent implementation schedule for the NASRF available?

Yes. The attached "Information Packet" and memo from Tom Nesler to Eddie Kochman and
Eric Hughes dated October 27, 1998 is the most recent information available.

What permits will be required for the project and what is the status of permitting activities?

The only permits, excluding general construction permits that wilI be obtained by the contractor,
are the well permits and the sewage system permit Weare presently drilling the unconfined
wells as test wells for the project (i.e we are adding screens, casing, etc. to the test wells). The
welI permits for the unconfined aquifer will be applied for upon completion of the test wells.

Is there a schedule for the DOW Comprehensive Plan for identification and recovery of declining
species?

Yes. The attached "Information Packet" and memo from Tom Nesler to Eddie Kochman and
Eric Hughes dated October 27, 1998 will provide you with some of this information.

~ A couple of comments regarding the Water Supply Investigations report of January 1999:

. In Table 2 on page 3 of the December 30, 1998 memo by W, W. Wheeler, the
information we have indicates that Well Nos. 1,2 and 3 were adjudicated on
December 31, 1976 instead of 1972.

. On page 12 of the memo, items 3,4 and 5 at the bottom of the page don't
seem to correspond with the numbers for welI pumping and return flows in
Table 8 on the preceding page.

Thank you for the infonnation. We have forwarded this information to W. W. Wheeler and we
will advise if there are any detrimental impacts to the project as a result.

Cc: Bruce McCloskey
Eric Hughes
Eddie Kockman
Norm Erthal
