These wells are an important component of Fort Lupton's <br />immediate and long-term water needs. <br /> <br />I also want to apologize for not being able to attend the <br />January 25, 1995 CWCB meeting. I understand the Board may have been <br />left with some misunderstandings and I would like to take this <br />opportunity to clarify some of the verbal statements that were made <br />during the City's presentation. <br /> <br />First, as described in the Feasibility Study, the City is in the <br />midst of a number of water-related improvement projects. All are <br />occurring simultaneously and are in varying degrees of progress. These <br />projects include: <br /> <br />. Surface water delivery and treatment project. <br /> <br />. Leak detection and water line repair and replacement <br />programs. <br /> <br />. The installation of water meters and the implementation of a <br />metered-based billing system. <br /> <br />. Public education program on water use and conservation. <br /> <br />. Aquifer recharge/augmentation program. <br /> <br />The City's first priority is the surface water project. Funding <br />from CWCB and REeD is in place for this project and it is scheduled for <br />completion at the end of the 1996 calendar year. The City's next two <br />priorities, in order of importance, are the installation of water meters <br />and the leak detection and line repair program. City funding is going <br />
