Feasibility Study
Glenwood Irrigation Company
Diversion Project

Introduction (Need for the Project)

The Glenwood Irrigation Company, located in Garfield County, operates the Glenwood Ditch for
the benefit of the shareholders by providing direct flow irrigation water. The ditch diverts from the
Roaring Fork River and delivers water to the service area. The existing structure is over fifty years
old. The concrete is cracking, erosion is undercutting the structure and the headgate is leaking.
The antiquated structure has a high possibility of complete failure in the near future.

Project Sponsor

The Glenwood Irrigation Company is a mutual ditch company and a non-profit corporation.
There are 69 shareholders that can issue 1500 shares of water. The Glenwood Irrigation
Company has the power to set annual assessments to be paid by the shareholders, the power
to cut off water deliveries to shareholders that fail to pay their assessments, and the power to
offer stock for sale to pay back assessments. The historic diversion point for the Glenwood Ditch that diverts water from the
Roaring Fork River, is located % of a mile east of the Carbondale turnoff. The ditch extends
northwest along the Roaring Fork River approximately 10 miles.
