03/27/1995 13:11

71 92753051

HRM

PAGE 06

..
#e

Ms. Honey R. Moschetti

-2-

March 14, 1995

3.. The use oflower precipitation values as reported in the National Weather Service's
Hydrometeorological Report No. 55A (HMR 55A). HMR 55A was published in
1988, and is an update of previously used extreme rainfall depths. HMR 55A
modified the precipitation values for extreme frequency rainfall events for some parts
of the state.

We have also completed our preliminary incremental damage analysis (IDA). using our estimate of
the 50 percent PMP inflow flood as the basis for the analysis. Our analysis indicates that a detailed
IDA will not result in an appreciable decrease in the inflow design flood for the dam.. We believe
that this is largely the result of the substantially lower base flood.

Based on the results of our preliminary IDA, we recommend against proceeding with the detailed
IDA. We further recommend using the 50-percent PMP flood as the inflow design hydrograph for
DeWeese Dam, and preparing a lener report to the Colorado State Engineer's Office (SEO) for their
review and approval of the inflow design flood. As stated in our Februmy 6. 1995 proposal, we will
complete the required report, along with any appropriate meetings with the SEO. for a not-to-exceed
cost of $6,000.

I wilI be glad to answer any questions you might have regarding our work done to date or its impact
on future dam safety work at DeWeese Dam.

Sincerely.

GEl CONSULTANTS, INC.

Brian S.
