Please see the attached project
summary and map.

Backe:round
The DeWeese-Dye Ditch and Reservoir Company of Canon City owns and operates
DeWeese Dam which is located on Grape Creek about five miles north of West cliffe in
Custer County. DeWeese Dam is a concrete masonry structure which consists of an
original structure built in about 1903 and two raises of the dam by four feet and eight feet
constructed separately in the years between 1903 and 1931. The present dam has a height
of63 feet and impounds about 4,000 acre-feet of water which is used primarily for
agricultural and rural water supply.

The issue of concern is the condition of the top 12 feet of the dam which show
considerable spalling and cracking. Recent inspection reports by the State Engineer's
Office have indicated that storage restrictions will be imposed if the Company does not
take appropriate action to improve the condition of the two crest raise sections.
