Walcher <br />Executive Director <br />Rod Kuharich <br />CWCB Director <br />Dan McAuliffe <br />Deputy Director <br />SUBJECT: Agenda Item 19d., January 22-23, 2003 Board Meeting <br />South Side Irrigation Company <br />Introduction <br />The South Side Irrigation Company (SSIC) is applying for a$72,000 loan to rehabilitate the South <br />Side Ditch. The estimated total cost of the project is $80,000. Please see the attached project <br />summary and map. <br />Backqround <br />The SSIC, located in Larimer County, operates the South Side Ditch for the benefit of its <br />shareholders by providing delivery of water for irrigation within 49A-1590-acre service area. The <br />ditch is approximately 11 miles in length, and has its headgate on the Big Thompson River, 4 <br />miles west of Loveland. The Company wants to rehabilitate the ditch to upgrade the hydraulic <br />structures and recover lost carrying capacity. <br />Feasibilitv Studies <br />John Gauthiere, P.E., of Gauthiere Engineering, has completed the feasibility study. The report <br />includes an evaluation of alternatives available to rehabilitate the South Side Ditch. <br />The South Side Irriqation Companv <br />The SSIC is a Colorado non-profit Ditch Company registered in the State of Colorado. There <br />are 90 shareholders and 265 shares of stock. The SSIC has the power to set annual <br />assessments to be paid by the shareholders and the power to refuse to deliver water to <br />shareholders that fail to pay their assessments. <br />
