In 1999, Koenig Reservoir was completed northwest of Fort Lupton. It is also a
bentonite slurry lined reservoir created from a mined gravel pit. It's capacity, when completed,
will be approximately 1,100 acre-feet. In 2001, a third lined gravel pit was completed on the
west side of Greeley along the Cache la Poudre River. It will store approximately 300 acre-feet
when finished. In 2003, the Bernhardt Pit was lined east of Milliken, and the Nissan Pit will be
lined in 2004.

Table 4
Gravel Pit Storage
Groundwater Management Subdistrict of the
Central Colorado Water Conservancy District
2003

Proiect

Storage Amount

Location

Walker Reservoir
Koenig Reservoir

1,600 acre-feet
1,100 acre-feet

Brighton
Fort Lupton

6
