Feasibility of the
3T Cattle Company Augmentation Project

Project Sponsor

3T Cattle Company, Inc. (3T Cattle) is a cattle feedlot
operation. 3T Cattle is a Colorado corporation. 3T Cattle feeds
varying numbers of cattle throughout the year but has a maximum
lot capacity of 10,000 head.

The water for the feedlot is supplied by one tributary
groundwater well. The well can pump between 90 and 112 acre-feet
of water annually for a full feedlot. The well is currently
augmented under the Groundwater Appropriators of the South Platte
(GASP) plan of operation. See Appendix A for current GASP record.

Project Service Area

The service area of the 3T feedlot is located in Morgan County
about 6 miles southwest of Fort Morgan. The feedlot is located in
Section 23, Township 3 North, Range 58 West lying primarily south
of the Bijou Canal. A general location map of the project service
area is found in Appendix B.

Need for the Project

3T Cattle uses the one junior well to supply all of the water
required for its feedlot operations. The depletions from the
pumping of well must be replaced during times when there is a
"call" on the river by a senior downstream water right. There are
numerous downstream ditches and reservoirs which all have senior
water rights to the 3T Cattle well. Some of these rights are
close to 50 years senior to the well. GASP has successfully been
used for the past 30 years to cover the depletions on these
wells. However, GASP will cease to cover the augmentation needs
of this well on August 22, 2004.

3T Cattle needs to develop its own source of augmentation by the
August deadline in order to keep using the well.

Feasibility Study
3T Cattle Company Aug Project
April 2003

1
