Eagle <br />County, the Upper Eagle Regional Water Authority (the Authority), Vail Valley Consolidated <br />Water District (the District), and Vail Associates are requesting funding for the acquisition of <br />the Eagle Park Reservoir at the Climax Mine area above the East Fork of the Eagle River. <br />(Please see the attached project summary and map.) <br /> <br />In addition to the initial application, a great deal of information has recently been provided by <br />the applicants at the request of the staff. The following paragraphs summarize the feasibility <br />information which has been reviewed to date. Staff proposes to complete this review within <br />the next month. <br /> <br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />The project is intended to augment winter water supplies to the service areas of the Authority <br />and the District, to provide additional water for snowmaking purposes by Vail Associates, and <br />to enhance streamflows in the upper portion of the Eagle River basin. <br /> <br />The owner of the reservoir site, Cyprus Climax Metals Company, is in the process of <br />removing material from the former tailings pond and rehabilitating the site as a fresh water <br />
