<br />J <br /> <br />North Fork River Improvement Association <br />November 22--23.1999 <br /> <br />Agenda Item 15c. <br />(Updated December 2, 1999) <br /> <br />provide storage and flood control benefits, as well as affecting the downstream river regime by <br />releasing primarily clear water. <br /> <br />NFRIA is currently conducting studies and demonstration projects that relate to the North Fork: <br />of the Gunnison in the area roughly from Paonia to Hotchkiss. This effort is best described as <br />water resource planning on the local level. The Severance Tax Operational Account is intendE!d <br />to help fund this type of planning. NFRIA could apply for an additional planning grant from the <br />SEV Operation Account in spring 2000, for follow-on funding in the year 2001. <br /> <br />Recomme'ndation <br />Staff recommends a grant in amount of $55,000 to the North Fork River Improvement <br />Association; $50,000 designated for funding of the Paonia Reservoir Research Project, and <br />$5,000 for the Association's costs of administering the Project. <br /> <br />Staff further recommends that approval of the grant be contingent upon CWCS Staff approval <br />of the Plan of Study for the Paonia Reservoir Research Study. <br /> <br />Action taken bv the CWCS <br />The CWCB approved the staff recommendation. <br />(Note: CWCS staff will continue to work with NFRIA, and will evaluate the possibility of a future <br />grant from the Severance Tax Operational Account.) <br /> <br />cc: Jeffory P.
