The Peoples Ditch Company historically operated the diversion to supply
water to 6 shareholders for irrigation within the 700-acre service area. Flooding washed out the
diversion and the Company needs to build a new point of diversion prior to the 2001 irrigation
season. The average annual volume diverted is 1,200 acre-feet. The Peoples Ditch Company is
a mutual ditch company and a nonprofit corporation registered in the State of Colorado. Lynn
Lovell, P.E. of the Natural Resources Conservation Service has completed preliminary plans
and specifications for the project. John Van Sciver, P.E., CWCS staff, has completed the
feasibility study with help from the Company and the NRCS. Proposed funding for the project
consists of a CWCS Small Project Loan for $43,000, a $5,000 grant from the NRCS for
engineering, and a $27,000 grant from the NRCS for construction.

Location Map

4
