4. Build Raw Water System.

Although building a raw water system is initially expensive, it will yield a permanent, cost
effective, and politically viable solution to Ridgway's growing irrigation needs.
Amortization ofa 20 year loan will more than offset the cost of treatment plant expansion
or the annual operations and maintenance costs of the pumping options. The proposed raw
water option will require no pumping as there is more than adequate head pressure (160
Ibs. +) to gravity feed all locations in both phases. Ifprovisions are made in the early
stages of construction, later expansion should be straightforward and cost-effective.

Ridgway's engineer provided technical assistance in the evaluation of the above alternatives,
particularly concerning types and configuration.

The Selected Project

Ridgway City Council has selected alternative "4." A preliminary layout and design is attached.
(See Appendix B)

Water Rights

Town of Ridgway possesses water rights to divert or use 7 CFS. Currently, at peak usage we divert less
1 ~ than Y2 fofRper..mooth and approximately 150 acre feet of water per year.
~ (See Appendix C)

Cost Estimate

The selected alternative is estimated to cost a total of$108,000. The planning costs will be absorbed by
the Town of Ridgway. Design will be by the ~r~ engineer. Construction cost estimate, including
contingencies, was provided by the €~~'liRYs engineer and is attached.
(See Appendix D)

Item

Estimated Cost

1.
