We understand this proposal will go before the
Colorado Water Conservation Board at the March 12th and 13th meeting. This proposal is up
for competitive funding from the SB-179 legislation.

The Gunnison Basin is beginning to see development pressure from the energy industry. The
GBRT feels it is important to quantify the consumptive needs of the energy industry to better
understand how this emerging industry will impact our water supplies. The GBRT anticipates
we will also be conducting a similar study in the near future and we anticipate using the baseline
data that will be developed in this study for our own needs assessment.

Please include this letter of support from the GBR T in the packets for the Colorado Water
Conservation Board Members prior to the March 12th and 13th meeting.

Michelle Pierce
Gunnison Basin Roundtable Chair

Cc Dave Merritt, Colorado Basin Roundtable Chair
Tom Sharp, Yampa and White Basins Roundtable C~air
