'i-........:

3) Extends the Water EfBciency Grant Program
Fund sunset date from 2008 to 2012.
I
<Poly a few covered entities to date have a plan
approved by the CWCB, although more than one
y1eiu of the three-year program has already
9lapsed. Many entities are developing or updating
their plans to bring them into compliance with the
r~quirements of HB 04-1365. However, by the
~e plans are completed and approved by the
GWCB, much of the grant funding timeframe will
Have passed. Extending the sunset date will allow
Jore entities to access the funds and ultimately
u~e them to implement the water conservation
plans and meet their targeted goals for reduced
I .
crnsumptlon.

4) AUows state and local governmental entities
tb be eligible for grant monies to carry out
I . .1 . d
"later conservatJon piannlng an
implementation.
Ait several recently conducted water conservation
I
"jorkshops around the State, numerous smaller
ern.tities (<2K ac-ft of retail water delivery
aAnually) expressed a need for technical &
nhancial assistance in their water conservation
pt1anning and implementation efforts. While some
of these systems are contending with increased
~owth in their service area and the resulting
inbreased demand, many are facing system
sHortages during drought conditions. Without
crbating an additional legislative mandate for these
srballer utilities, which do not meet the statutory
ddnnition of a covered entity, grant monies would
bd made available to them under the same
a~plication requirements currently in place, to
ca~ry out meaningful water conservation planning
Id' I .
an ltnp ementatlon.

.

.

For more information contact Veva McCaig at the CWCR at (303) 866-3339.
1313 Sherman Street, Room 721, Denver, CO 80203
Phone: (303) 866-3441.
