<br />The Town of DeBeque is constructing a new collection structure in the Colorado River and
<br />pump/piping system as part of the Irrigation System Improvements' Project. The Project is expected
<br />to cost $370,000 and provide an improvement to the Town's irrigation water delivery system. The
<br />improvements will increase delivery quantity and efficiency and will also reduce the demand on the
<br />Town's drinking water supply. The Town is located approximately 30 miles east of Grand Junction
<br />and serves 480 residents with sewer and water. The present irrigation system serves approximately
<br />half of the Towns residence however the system is often low on pressure and unreliable. In addition
<br />to increasing system reliability, this project will help utilize a recently acquired 3.5 cfs surface water
<br />right on the Colorado River. This right combined with the 1.7 cfs right from Roan Creek will serve
<br />the needs of the 480 residences, two schools and a cemetery. Construction of the pipeline and
<br />pump station is expected in early 2007.
