If approved, the extension would move the deadline for LAWMA to purchase shares under the contract from May 28,2001 to May 28,2002. As you may recall, the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) approved the use of loan fimds from Loan No. CI53768 in the amount of$2.3 million, for the purchase of shares of the Highland Irrigation Company, the Fort Bent Ditch Company, the Amity Mutual Ditch Company, and the Las Animas Consolidated Canal Company. LA WMA has closed on the purchase of3382 shares of Highland and continues its efforts to buy shares with the $424,416 in available funds remaining under the contract. LA WMA has worked diligently to obtain shares, however, it does not appear that LA WMA will be able to complete the purchase transactions prior to the contract deadline of May 28, 200 I. Therefore, LA WMA requests the Board to amend the contract to allow LA WMA sufficient time to complete its purchases.
