The FEMA funds arc
being matched by eWeB and local cost-share dollars 10 implement the map update work that includes engineering
and GIS to create new digital countywide maps. The initial Map Modernization Program funds authoril-cd in the
2003 and all subsequent Construction Fund Bills have provided the required non-federal matching dollars (80/20
cost share program). The State funds are further leveraged by local cost share dollars and in-kind services from
many communities thus far. The total funding amounts have been instrumental in keeping Colorado as a Icad slate
within FEMA Region 8 and will continue to benefit a variely of Colorado communilies in the months and years 10
comc. Without the cwcn matching dollars, Colorado could miss out on millions of dollars in federal grants. It is
fully expected that high levels of FEMA funding (millions of$) will stream into Colorado during the next several
years and beyond. Additionally, the Map Modernization work will become part of the proposed Flood DSS system
10 increase data capture and enhance Colorado's decision support tools.

.

The impact area of the Floodplain Map Modernization Program is within the entire slate of Colorado. The Project
objective is to develop updated countywide floodplain maps using current community base map information within
a digital environment. The use of statc.-of-the-art GIS technology will be employed for all new countywide studies
in Colorado for easc of distribution, updating and viewing.

.

r=II Flood MoIp Mod~llatlon Count~ lCornpkolPd,Ongolnq.or cUtrl"nl FVQ6 slart!
