With this request, CGS will be able to complete a similar effort, but for the
alluvial aquifers of the upper Arkansas and major tributaries, including the bedrock aquifers for the entire basin.

For FY 07-08, an appropriation of $40,000 is being sought from the Construction Fund to continue the
CGS digital groundwater bibliography project.

Discussion

The objective is the compilation of existing groundwater studies and data for the alluvial aquifers in the upper
Arkansas River basin, as well as for the bedrock aquifers throughout the basin. This study will focus on existing
literature that addresses the configuration, hydrologic properties, water levels and water quality of the aquifers.
This effort, along with the previous effort in the lower Arkansas River basin, will be helpful with future COSS
efforts, SWSI and the lnterbasin Compact Basin Roundtables (tCBRT) under HB-IIn.

Oeliverables will be GIS-compatible, including a hydrologic database and shapefiles that catalogue and display
data for the Arkansas River basin alluvial and bedrock aquifers.

. Recommendation

Staff recommends that the Board request the General Assembly authorize $40,000 from the Construction Fund
to be appropriated to the Colorado Water Conservation Board for use by CGS.
