important to educate themselves about water issues in
their basin. Basin Roundtables have had presentations
on different topic areas (the prior appropriation doctrine,
interstate compacts, water administration, groundwater
resources, etc.) and on different geographic locatiqns
(issues in the Upper Gunnison, issues in the White River
Basin, etc.). The Rio Grande Basin Roundtable held one
of their meetings in conjunction with a conservation
workshop, offered a field trip to an important local
reservoir, and had a member assemble a chronology of
water management in the San Luis Valley. The South
Platte Basin Roundtable has had a series of small group
discussions on issues and potential solutions in different
parts of the South Platte River Basin. In the words, of one
Basin Roundtable member, "this beneficial proces~ has
led to Basin Roundtable members' active engagerPent
with one another in a meaningful way that is progressing
towards a better understanding of the issues thro4ghout
our basin."
