<br />The next water quality-water quantity coordination meeting will be held at the DOA on December 4, <br />2006. <br /> <br />Drought Update - Office of Water Conservation & Drought Planning: The 2006 water year ended up <br />being one in which much of the State was in some level of drought - from abnormally dry to extreme <br />drought. Currently the eastern plains and northeast portion of the State continue to suffer from severe <br />drought conditions in spite of recent beneficial monsoonal rains. The rest of the State is experiencing <br />abnormally dry to moderate drought conditions. The next meeting of the Governor's Water Availability <br />Task Force (W A TF) is scheduled for Thursday, September 21,2006,9:30 - 11 :30am at Denver Water. <br />The meeting will focus on preliminary snow pack forecasts for the upcomihg winter as well as current <br />reservoir levels and streamflows. Water supply impacts from persistent drought conditions to the <br />agricultural and municipal sectors will also be discussed. A future meeting of the WATF, to potentially <br />occur in NovemberlDecember will look at possible revisions and updates to the Colorado Drought <br />Mitigation & Response Plan. <br /> <br />A September 5,2006 U.S. Drought Monitor Map can be found in the attachment section of this report. <br /> <br />CWO A 2006 Annual Conference Planned: The CWOA 2006 Annual Conference will be held in <br />Steamboat Springs September 27-29,2006 at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel. The conference is <br />entitled "Water's Last Frontier". See the CWOA website at www.coloradowaterofficials.com for more <br />conference information. <br /> <br />Colorado Water Congress 2006 Meetings: <br /> <br />. CWC Seminar and Workshop Schedule: The Colorado Water Congress prepares a series of four <br />to eight workshops each year for the purpose of increasing and updating water knowledge both <br />for the actively involved water community and general public knowledge. The seminar and <br />workshops for 2006 will all be held in the Colorado Water Congress Conference Room, 1580 <br />Logan Street, Suite 400, Denver, Colorado. The 2006 programs and registration forms are posted <br />on the CWC's website. CLE credits will be shown on the forms for the workshops when <br />awarded. <br /> <br />. The 49th CWC Annual Convention will be January 25 - 26, 2007 at the DIA Hotel and John Q. <br />Hammonds Convention Center, 15500 East 40th Ave., Denver. <br /> <br />31st Annual Colorado Water Workshop Held: The 31 sl Annual Colorado Water Workshop was held <br />July 26-28, at Western State College of Colorado in Gunnison. The CWCB had its booth set up and <br />information on our programs to distribute. <br /> <br />Colorado Riparian Association Seminar Scheduled: The Colorado Riparian Association is presenting <br />a Seminar Entitled "Sustaining Colorado Watersheds: Science and Restoration through Collaboration" in <br />Summit County on October 4-6. Contact: info@coloradoriparian.org or call 303-499-1092 for more <br />information. <br /> <br />Arkansas River Basin <br /> <br />Arkansas River Compact Administration (ARCA): On August 28 - 29 Hal Simpson and I met with <br />David Pope in Topeka for the second round of the ARCA Special Engineering Committee created at the <br />Dec. 2005 Annual Meeting. Staff from both states continued to develop the factual and policy basis for <br />numerous contested accounting issues under the 1980 Operating Plan for John Martin Reservoir. We are <br />nearing final agreement on several issues and developed pathways to lead to resolution on several others, <br />however the States agreed to keep the substance of their discussions confidential.
