~

Town of Campo

Box 116
Campo, Colorado 81029

1. The town park in Campo, Colorado, covers an area approximately
300' x 300'. At this time the park is watered manually with
hoses and sprinklers. The town employs only a part-time city
employee, so this watering system is very inadequate and in-
efficient.

Our project for 1997 is installing a Rainbird Sprinkler
System in our park, covering an area 133' by 208'. This would
include the electrical work and timer panel for the entire
park. The system would be installed by Joe Harbert, 11 Mayhew
Dr., Lamar, Co., 81052. Meters would be installed by the
Campo town employee and council members. Due to lack of funds,
we would install the remainder of the pipe and sprinklers in
next year's project.

2. With the installation of the Rainbird Sprinkler System, we
plan to meter water usage in the park, use water at off-peak
hours, and with timing devices, the town could water in the
most efficient manner with minimum man hours.

As the park is located across the street (south) of the school
track and the town swimming pool, and across the street (west)
of the tennis court and baseball field, and across the street
(east) of our community building, our whole community would
benefit from our project.

3. The project has been under discussion for several years.
Neighboring towns have been beneficial in helping develop our
project ideas. The Water Conservation Board Grant Program
is giving us the opportunity to initiate the project.

4. Campo is a small close-knit community that tries to provide
activities for all ages. It sets aside community work days
for repair and improvements. Many volunteer labor and time.

5. As Campo is located on a major highway (287) in Colorado,
signs situated along the street to direct people to our park
would benefit the small businesses in our town.

7. Additional funds from our Conservation Trust Fund, and funds
from the Town of Campo, will also be utilized in helping make
our project a reality.

8. We estimate the time to completion would be 1 month. Start
date would be May 26, 1997. Completion date, June 26, 1997.
