water drawn from the groundwater basin. Representatives from Ripetouch and I have presented

this proposal to the project engineers at Stone and Webster, and the El Paso County

Commissioners. The proposal was well received and the Town has begun its contribution.

The Town ofCalhan has initiated the research and engineering for the project. The

consultants are James Egan, P.E. for Regulatory Management and Mark Pifuer of Anderson,

Dude, Pifuer, and Lebel. These consultants were involved in the planning and construction of

the wastewater facility. The Calhan Public Works Director, Marion Wilson, will serve as the

Project Administrator. Mr. Wilson possesses extensive experience and the requisite water and

wastewater certificates.

This water conservation grant is sought to purchase a static well-level monitoring system.

The cost of acquiring the system is $7,500. This technology allows for the evaluation of demand

impacts on the aquifers and the effect of water conservation from wastewater reuse. The total

project cost is $13,500, which includes research, engineering, and the purchase and installation

of the well-monitoring system. The local contribution to this project is $8,500. The grant

request is in the amount of$5,000.
