The lO,OOO-square-
foot garden is adjacent to the Evergreen
Metropolitan District's water treatment
plant below Evergreen Dam.
Darleen Cornett, president of the Ever-
green Garden Club, thanked Tom Ware,
Evergreen Metropolitan District Board
president for the district's support and
help for the project Ware, in turn, thanked
operations manager Dave Lightheart and
water division supervisor Gary Jeffery and
his crew for their help.
Jeffery arranged for the use of a 6-inch
water meter as a pedestal for a bronze sun-
dial now gracing the garden's plaza. The
sundial, presented through the cooperative
efforts of the district and Fedde Bronze
Works, is a restoration of the sundial orig-
inally placed in Denver's City Park by the
children of Civil War veterans around the
turn of the century.
Evergreen's "herb lady," Louise Moun-
sey, an inspirational force behind the club's
involvement in the creation of the garden,
was honored through the dedication of the
herb garden in her name. Mounsey is a
charter member of the 31-year-old club.
The garden is the culmination of exten-
sive water treatment plant expansion and
facility upgrades by the district Officials
wanted the landscaping to complement the
new architecture, be in concert with the
downtown improvement program, pleasing
to visitors and passers-by, and to function
as a water conservation education garden
for district residents.
, A design team from the club, including
Arle_terel_lIe ~arla_s,

o DAVE L1GHTHEART, EVERGREEN
METROPOLITAN DISTRICT operations
manager, and Tom Ware, district board
president, accept a gift project photo album
from the Evergreen Garden Club during the
Ocl, 5 dedication ceremony.

Diana Martin, and Peggy and Dale Fetchen-
hier, took on the task of planning the gar-
den last winter and received district
approval to proceed last spring.
