and !lows across a small alluvial fan to the Rio Grande River. The upper watershed is forested by conifers
(Douglas Fir. Punderosa Pine. Englemann Spruce) and aspen. The lower valley is vegetated with
collonwoods and hrushy vegetation with grassy pastures in the low-lying floodplain and pinion-ponderosa-
juniper-scrub oak on the slopes. Low-density home development. undeveloped lOIS, associated gravel/dirt
roads. .!Od narrow, single-span sleel bridges with concrete decks (ahUlments not secured to engineered
foundations) arc presenl on private lands within the study reach.
