<br />031711 <br /> <br />III. Public Input <br /> <br />Public involvement was important to Reclamation in <br />determining which resources were of particular concern in the <br />Test area. J~.~c1amation involved various publics in planning <br />and conducting the Test. Cooperators included federal, state, <br />and local governmental agencies, American Indian (Indian) <br />Tribes and Nations, nonprofit organizations, area businesses, <br />water users, and recreationists. Reclamation representatives <br />,attended meetings of various organizations and held two <br />public meetings on the Test on April 4, 2001, in Farmington, <br />New Mexico, and April 5, in Bluff, Utah. In total, about 65 <br />people attended. Thirty-five written comments also were <br />submitted to Reclamation. <br /> <br />Concerns cited and addressed during the Test included: <br /> <br />* Water quality degradation <br /> <br />* Difficulty diverting water <br /> <br />* Harm to the trout fishery below Navajo Dam <br /> <br />* River rafting problems from lower flows near Bluff, Utah <br /> <br />* Loss of revenue by area businesses <br /> <br />* Power generation problems <br /> <br />Summer Low Flow Test Report - November 2001 <br /> <br />-5- <br />
