001728

V. What the Results Mean

Short-term negative results as measured by the Test were
relatively few, although some did occur (below). Concern, if
any, centers on the potential effects of prolonged low flows
on key resources, although these would be monitored. Most
importantly, the possible long-term effects projected from
limited Test data could change significantly after more
detailed analysis is completed in the EIS. An informal
summary of Test findings and long-term projections for
affected resources is as follows:

Test findings

long-term projections

Hydrology: Sufficient water is
available for projeded diversions

Water quality: Some exceedences
of State standards

Diversions: Of the 19 diversions
monitored, 3 were impaded
noticeably and the remaining
experienced few problems

Water Rights: No effect

Trout/aquatic habitat: Essentially
no negative effect on trout; some
on habitat

Recreation and Economics:
Decrease in outfitted fishing and
private rafting and some decrease
in related businesses

Hydropower: Slight damage to
turbine blades

Sufficient flows are available,
however, some diversion structure
modifications may be needed.

Some exceedences of State
standards

Impacts will occur depending on
river flows and weather conditions

7j;:.~, 'p ~ p - /J,1f"h",#~j C-G/Hfl.
I
~l -.,.
