Much ofMr. McAnelly's work has focused on quantitative precipitation estimates of
mesoscale convective systems and other precipitating systems such as wintertime
orographic systems. This includes high temporal and spatial resolution estimates
utilizing radar, raingage, and SNOTEL data in individual cases, and composites of data
for classes of storm systems. He has also worked with high-resolution model datasets in
evaluating their simulated precipitation characteristics against observations. In 1996,
he helped develop and present a case study for the National Weather Service Central
Region Quantitative Precipitation Forecast Workshop, UCAR/COMET.
