The proposal represents collaboration with the Colorado WaterWise Council, Western <br />Resource Advocates, and numerous other stakeholders and supporters statewide (see attached letters <br />of support). The application is attached for your review. GWI will be working closely with the <br />Office at the CWCB to provide comprehensive and useful education and outreach to the Colorado <br />water community regarding the requirements for and benefits of meaningful water conservation and <br />water use efficiency. <br /> <br />The applicant is requesting $49,975 to aid in the performance of a series of technical workshops and <br />forums to be conducted around the state. The workshops and forums will be a used to teach water <br />providers the components of proper water conservation planning based on the CWCB Guidance <br />Document; to provide valuable information to the water community regarding the state of the <br />science of water conservation and water use efficiency measures and programs; and to provide an <br />opportunity for local water users and providers, as well as other speakers, to share their experiences <br />and lessons learned regarding planning for and implementing water conservation programs. The <br />applicant has demonstrated their financial ability to provide 25% of the project budget with matching <br />funds in the form of cash and in-kind services. Staff has reviewed and evaluated the grant <br />application and has determined that the proposal meets the CWCB guidelines for reviewing grant <br />proposals. Attached is the internal checklist used to evaluate the application as well as the <br />application evaluation criteria. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />The OWCDP staff recommends that Rod Kuharich, Director of the CWCB authorize $49,975 to the <br />Great Western Institute to perform a series of workshops for educational and technical purposes. <br /> <br />Flood Protection.
