..,

Information derived from the limnologic study will be utilized as base data

for the development of the Problem Identification Report and the Reservoir

Modeli ng/ Alternative Control Report.

Instream Monitoring Program

The purpose of the instream monitoring program is to define the nutrient

load entering the reservoir from Bear Creek and Turkey Creek on an annual

basis. This includes an assessment of the nonpoint contribution, point

source contribution and the ambient contribution. This information will be

used in the reservoir modeling effort to determine the reservoir response

to loadings from the basin. This information will be evaluated to determine

appropriate control measures in the basin.

On a routine basis, samples will be collected from Bear Creek and Turkey

Creek at stream gages located immediately upstream of the reservoir, Dis-

crete samples will be collected and stream flow measu rements taken to define

the stage-discharge relationship. Tributary sampling will be conducted twice

a month from October through April and on a weekly basis from May through

September. During periods of heavy snowmelt runoff, the monitoring of

Bear Creek may be modified to capture the peak snowmelt contribution.

Details of the in stream monitoring program are contained in Appendix A.

The present point source dischargers will not be monitored as sufficient

data exists to quantify loadings from these sources. Nonpoint contributions

will be determined by applying DRURP models to future land uses in the

basin. In addition, one subbasin will be monitored for storm events to de-

termine the relationship between the DRURP models and site specific land

use and topography in a mountainous basin.

8
