This storm caused considerable damage to the patrol roads <br />but did no damage to the transmission line. <br />A week later a smaller but more violent rainstorm struck the <br />Pinto Springs area north of Camino switching station, washing out <br />some two miles of the Santa Fe railroad and damaging the patrol <br />road in a numbel' of places, Damage to the transmission line con- <br />sisted only of washing out some 3 to 4 feet of soil around two <br />footings of one tower where Pinto Wash overflowed its banks and <br />r.ut a new channel. <br />In December 1939 control panels and metering equipment were <br />installed at Gene for the Phoenix transmission line and construction <br />of the wood pole tie line was started to connect the Gene-Intake <br />69-h line to the Phoenix line at Parker dam, On February 1, 1940 <br />delivery of energy over this tie line to the Salt River Valley Water <br />Users' Association was begun. This is a part of the District's <br />unused energy generated at Boulder dam, transmitted over the <br />District.s 230-kv and 69-kv lines, and delivered to the Phoenix line <br />at Parker dam.
