<br /> <br />w <br />l\) <br />-.J <br />(;j <br /> <br />developing procedures for manage~ent and use of saline water, testing <br /> <br />advanced irrigation syste~, and identifying waste-water recl~tion <br /> <br />opponuni ties. <br /> <br />It will be the responsibility of the Westwide Study to present the <br /> <br />varied and complex alternatives for development. regulation, and use <br /> <br />of all waters of the Colorado River Basin, examine tradeoffs between <br /> <br />alternatives, prepare plans and cost estimates. and recoQmend priority <br /> <br />of future studies and development. Close coordination and cooperation <br /> <br />will be maintained between the Colorado River Water Quality Improvement <br /> <br />Program and the Westwide Study to assure the preparation of a sound. <br /> <br />well integrated plan of development for the Colorado River Basin. <br /> <br />The Organization <br /> <br />The many activities involved will require close coordination of the <br /> <br />work with Federal. State. and local agencies and private and public <br /> <br />groups having a mutual concern and interest in the program. Overall <br /> <br />responsibility for the program has been assigned to the Bureau of <br /> <br />Reclamation. Within this agency, imoediate responsIbilIty for direc- <br /> <br />tion has been given to the Assistant CommIssioner _ Resource Planning. <br /> <br />with strong coordinative ties with the Assistant Commissioner _ <br /> <br />Resource Management. FIeld planning, constructIon, and operation <br /> <br />activities will be handled by the Regional Directors. RegIons 3 and 4. <br /> <br />
