"

.

.

additional Narrows storage has been included in the totil1 co'st ot. the
feature which is $4,107,000. Detail costs are shown in Tab1~ 3.

The annual equivalent cost of construction is $821140, the annual OM&R
and pumping is $57,l30, the total annual cost is ~139,270, and the
incremental cost per acre -foot is $4.32.

B.v this feature water is delivered to the North Sterling' ditch 7 miles
above the reservoir instead of at the river headgate 63 miles from the
reservoir, so transportation losses would not be so great.

This feature appears to be self-supporting if channel storage is supplied.
The storage could probably be supplied by either a reservoir at Narrows
or Weld County, although we have' not checked it for the Weld County
site.

At a previous meeting it was pointed out that the average exchange
potential of Narrows Reservoir to the Bijou ditch, 11,000 acre-feet,
was not available when most needed in the dry periods because water was
not available in the river at these times to effectuate the .exchange.
We made a study to see to what extent this condition could be alleviated
by exchanging water to Empire Reservoir in the winter and early spring
before the irrigation season started. The study only utilized vacant
space in Empire Reservoir so as not to interfere with the existing
efficiency of the system. An average of 13,300 acre-feet was exchanged
to the river headgate for the years 1952-1957. The construction cost of
this item is zero.

Let us now consider the aggregate of these three innovations with the
Narrows Reservoir.

Table 4

Ac.
