Rotations for <br /> <br />long-term commitment. <br />conducted in a manner <br />the Forest's trees vary <br /> <br />Forest management requires <br />that ensures long-term pro- <br />from 80 to 160 years. <br /> <br /> <br />SHORT-TERM USE AND LONG-TERM PRODUCTIVITY <br /> <br />The Proposed Action and alternatives meet the Multiple-Use Sustained Yield <br />requirement to provide for the "achievement and maintenance in perpetuity of <br />a high level annual or periodic out pu t of the various renewable resources of <br />the National Forests without impairment of the productivity of the land." The <br />long-term land product ivi ty is maintained or improved in all alternatives <br />while producing outputs, goods, and services over the planning horizon. <br /> <br />CONSULTATION WITH OTHERS <br /> <br />This draft EIS is the latest in a series of efforts designed to involve the <br />public in the development of the proposed Forest Plan. <br /> <br />As the public involvement process continues, the Forest invites further com- <br />ment in the final stages of its planning effort. Comments on the draft EIS <br />received during the review period will be used in preparation of the final <br />EIS. <br /> <br />32 <br />
