There
are six alternatives analyzed. Alternative A, the Proposed Forest Plan,
emphasizes production of goods and services such as downhill skiing, developed
recreation, and water yield while giving consideration to values such as
wildlife and wilderness. Alternative B continues the present course of action
with the modification of meeting and responding to present and projected
program levels and consumptive demands (No Action Alternative). Alternative
C emphasizes meeting targets assigned to the Forest by the R-2 Regional Guide
in conformance with the Forest and Rangeland Renewable Resources Planning Act
(RPA) for 1980. Alternative D emphasizes providing goods and services with a
monetary value at the highest expected level of demand. Alternative E empha-
sizes providing a variety of non-market outputs. Alternative F emphasizes the
production of inarket outputs while operating on a budget which would be 25
percent less than 1982.

Alternative A is the Forest Service Preferred Alternative and proposed Forest
Plan.

Please retain your copy of this draft Environmental Impact Statement (JnS).
Unless the extent of public comment or new information requires substantial
revision, only. the changes in the Draft EIS and the responses of the Forest
Service will be circulated as the Final EIS [40 CFR l503.4(c)].
