Average salinities of the
waters delivered to Mexico on the land boundary at San Luis under
Minute No. 242, since it became effective on June 24, 1974, are
tabulated as follows:

Year
1974 (June 25 to December 31)
1975
1976
1977
1978
1979
1980
1981
1982
1983
1984
1985
1986
1987
1988
1989
1990
1991
1992
1993

Total Dissolved Solids
in p.p.m. (U.S. Count)
1,515
1,500
1,480
1,510
1,470
1,538
1,582
1,572
1,470
1,434
1,487
1,513
1,496
1,431
1,488
1,300
1,333
1,223
1,312
1,306

The above data show that the salinity in 1993 was lower than
of the water customarily delivered on the land boundary,
averaged about 1,540 p.p.m. for the 10-year period 1963-1972.

that
which

Progress on U.S. Measures Provided for in Public Law 93-320

The YDP has been off-line since the first part of the calendar year
1993 because of the flood waters from the Gila River and damage to
the concrete lining of the entire Wellton-Mohawk drainage canal
caused by the Gila River flood flows.

The damage to the drainage canal lining has been repaired from
approximately the confluence of the Gila River to the Southerly
International Boundary. Gila River and Wellton-Mohawk drainage
flows have now been diverted into the repaired section of the
Wellton-Mohawk drainage canal in order to lessen salinity impacts
to the Colorado River.
