Colorado 81506 <br /> <br />l!\j REPL \ REFER TO: <br /> <br />2310 <br />(7-161) <br /> <br />February 26, 1988 <br /> <br />Memorandum <br /> <br />To: State Director, CO-943B <br /> <br />From: District Manager, Grand Junction <br /> <br />Subject: Petition/Application for Withdrawal for Protection of Scenic <br />River Values Along Colorado River <br /> <br />Attached is a petition/application for a withdrawal to provide protection for <br />the Ruby Canyon section of the Colorado River during the interim period <br />between the expiration of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Study Area withdrawal <br />(April, 1988) and the anticipated enactment of legislation by Congress to <br />designate this atretch as a Scenic River under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. <br /> <br />Similar action is being taken on the adjacent stretch of Colorado River in <br />Utah within the Moab District. <br /> <br />Included with the petition/application is a report on the mineral potential of <br />the area.
