Both tests were conducted on <br />August 25, 1986, in conjunction with the attempted geophysical logging. A <br />flow test, also called a constant-head or constant-drawdown test, consists of <br />allowing a previously shut-in artesian well to flow without restricting the <br />amount of water which is produced, During the period of flow, measurements <br />were made of time and rate of flow. <br /> <br />A shut-in test consists of recapping a well which had previously reached <br />a stable rate of flow, and measuring the pressure (artesian head) buildup over <br />a period of time. Graphs of time versus head buildup also can be used to <br />interpret aquifer transmissivity. <br /> <br />Flow rate at the Hooper Pool Well was measured for a period of <br />approximately six hours, during which time the flow stabilized. Upon recap- <br />ping the well, head buildup was measured for approximately two hours, until <br />the head no longer increased. Due to apparent inflow of water to the well at <br />a depth interval between 200 and 280 feet, as inferred from the geophysical <br />logging, results of the testing are not expected to be representitive of the <br />deep confined aquifer (HSU-3). The test results were interpreted, however, to <br />add to the existing database of information on HSU-2. <br /> <br />Figure 2.2 is a graph of the time versus flow rate measured during the <br />constant-drawdown portion of the testing at Hooper Pool Well. The straight <br />line drawn through the data points represents the best fit (linear regression) <br />line for the data collected following the first minute of the flow period. <br />Interpretation of the data carried out using the best-fit line shows the <br />transmissivity to be approximately 132,000 gallons per day per foot (gpd/ft) <br />(Appendix A) . <br /> <br />The data collected during the first minute of the flow period were not <br /> <br />2-2 <br />
